Tim Cain Back at Obsidian: Working on a Mystery Game, Still Doing YouTube
So, Tim Cain, the guy who helped bring us the original Fallout and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, is back in the game! After chilling in semi-retirement, he's decided to rejoin Obsidian Entertainment full-time. Right now, he's tied up with a project he can't spill the beans on just yet, thanks to those pesky legal documents.
For those who don't know, Tim's been doing some contract work on different games these last few years, even lending a hand to Obsidian's own The Outer Worlds 2, after co-directing the first one. In his recent YouTube update, he mentioned, "I’m back at Obsidian as a full-time employee, in-person, so no more remote work. This means I’m not working at other places anymore, though there's this one game I worked on that's still set to be released."
Sensing fans' curiosity, he quickly added that he can't reveal the game he's currently involved in due to an NDA. So, while we can speculate, we'll probably be way off. What I find interesting is that he said he's "probably a lot less retired now."
Even with this new role, Tim plans to keep his YouTube channel alive, where he shares stories from his career. Apparently, someone told him his written memoir was a bit dull, so he switched to video format. Obsidian seems cool with it. According to Tim, many of his co-workers are fans and have even told him their favorite videos or stories. As long as he has stories to share and good questions to answer, he's going to keep creating content.
What’s also great is that he shared a clip of himself feeding a squirrel a walnut, which he now considers a tax he has to pay every time he leaves his place. Now, the big question is: What is Obsidian cooking up? With both The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed on their plate this year, it's exciting to see what they brought Tim back for. Whatever it is, with Tim Cain on board, I’m sure it'll be worth the wait!
