Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: Stream Owned Games on Your Console Now!
Hey gamers! Great news for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers! You can now stream a selection of your owned games directly to your Xbox Series X/S or Xbox One consoles without needing to download them first. This awesome feature, which was in testing for a while, is finally available to everyone with an Ultimate subscription.
Remember back in 2019 when Microsoft first mentioned this? Well, after some delays, it's here! It initially rolled out last November on TVs and browsers (on devices like tablets, smartphones, and even Meta Quest headsets). Now, it's on your Xbox consoles, making gaming even more accessible!
How Does it Work?
This means you can now play games you own, even if they aren't part of the regular Game Pass library. There's a catch, though: only games on Microsoft's list of supported titles can be streamed. Currently, there are over 100 compatible games, and more are being added. Recent additions include Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 2, Wanderstop, and Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed. Check out the Xbox website for the full list!
To start streaming, just go to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games on your console. Supported games will have a cloud badge. Select the game, choose "Play with Cloud Gaming," and you're good to go! You can even start streaming directly from the Store after buying a compatible game.
More Than Just Streaming
The April Xbox update isn't just about streaming. It also brings other cool improvements. The "Free up space" screen now highlights duplicate games and games you no longer have access to. Plus, there are new Game hubs on Xbox consoles!
There are also changes to Xbox remote play. Microsoft is moving the feature from the Xbox app to your mobile browser. They say this will help them optimize the streaming experience and add new features. This change will also bring remote play to more devices soon, including Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV devices, and Meta Quest headsets.
Finally, the Xbox app on iOS and Android is getting an update that lets you buy games, add-on content, join Game Pass, and redeem Perks directly in the app. This will roll out to beta users first, then to everyone via the Google Play Store and Apple Store.
