Swords of Legends: Chinese Mythology-Inspired Action RPG Coming to PC and Consoles
Hey everyone! Exciting news for RPG fans! Wangyuan Shengtang and Aurogon Shanghai just dropped the curtain on their new project: Swords of Legends! You might remember it as Gujian 4 from a while back. But now it has a new name, and it's officially coming to consoles and PC. Unfortunately, we don't have a release date yet, but I'm already hyped!
Set in a fantastical world deeply inspired by Chinese mythology and folklore, this single-player action RPG looks absolutely stunning. The developers are using Unreal Engine 5, so you know it's going to be a visual treat.
What's the Game About?
In Swords of Legends, you play as an Underworld Enforcer. Your mission is to guide lost souls between the realms of the living and the dead. It's not just about classic myths, though. You'll be helping these souls resolve their unfinished business, diving deep into their personal stories. For example, the trailer shows a woman dancing, clinging to the mortal world. This gives me vibes from games such as "Spiritfarer", focusing on the connection with the characters.
The developers are aiming for a "wide linear" experience, so while it's not fully open world, you'll have plenty of freedom to explore and tackle quests at your own pace. It sounds like a perfect blend of a strong main story with room for exploration.
Don't worry if you haven't played any of the previous Gujian games. According to the team, each game has a unique and complete story, so you can jump right into Swords of Legends without feeling lost. It's a fresh start for everyone!
The team has been working hard on the game for about two years and are now in full production. They're aiming to show off their progress and attract more talent to the team with this reveal. I think it's a great start, and I can't wait to see more!
