Hey everyone! Fellow Trekkies, guess what? We're going back to the Delta Quadrant! Daedalic has just announced Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown, a game that's got me buzzing. It’s a story-driven strategy game based on the iconic Voyager series, and I can already tell you it looks amazing, because i'm a huge fan!

Developed by gameXcite, this game throws you right into the captain's chair. You'll have to manage your crew, make tough calls, and explore the unknown reaches of space. What really grabbed me was the cutaway view of the ship – it's like a Star Trek dollhouse! And yes, Harry Kim is there, waiting for your orders. Poor guy still an ensign!

What's the Game About?

Imagine reliving Voyager's journey but with the power to change things. The game mixes exploration, resource management, and even some roguelike elements. Roguelike elements may not be that good, but the chance to experience crew dynamics in new ways and explore "what-if" scenarios? That's where it gets interesting!

I'm hoping for some crazy storylines. What if Janeway actually joined the Borg? What if the Doctor became Captain? The possibilities seem endless, and that’s what has me excited.

The game gives you real choices. Do you play it safe, or take risks? Are you diplomatic, or do you go in with phasers blazing? You can even research technologies the crew previously rejected. But here's the catch: every decision has consequences. The roguelike elements mean each playthrough is different, and even major characters can bite the dust if you mess up. So you're really gonna have to be strategic!

There's also a base-building aspect. You'll be adding facilities to Voyager, kind of like in XCOM. I'm also intrigued by the away missions. You get to choose your team, mixing named characters with the always expendable redshirts. Choose wisely, because each mission will depend on your team's skills. Do you minimize risk, rush in guns-blazing, or take a scientific approach? It's all up to you.

I gotta say, a big part of my hype is pure nostalgia. There's no release date yet, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled. The studio does not have many games like this under their belt, but who knows? Maybe they can pull it off. I'm excited to see what they come up with!
