So, I've been following Star Citizen for what feels like forever, and the single-player spin-off, Squadron 42, is something I'm genuinely hyped about. We're talking Mark Hamill in a space adventure – what's not to love? The developers, Cloud Imperium Games, have just given us a little update, and it sounds like things are still moving (hopefully!) towards a 2026 release. What's interesting is their approach to marketing. They're not planning a huge, drawn-out campaign. Honestly, in this day and age of constant hype, that's kind of refreshing. Maybe they want the game to speak for itself? Or perhaps they are just saving budget! Who knows! Think about it. We've seen games get over-hyped, leading to disappointment when they finally launch. Remember No Man's Sky? The expectation was through the roof, and while it's a solid game now, the initial release didn't quite match the promises. It feels like Cloud Imperium Games want to avoid that trap. Personally, I kind of like this approach. Let's get the game in our hands and THEN we can see how good it is. Let the gameplay and story generate the buzz, rather than a bunch of trailers and interviews. Of course, this could also mean they're keeping things under wraps because they want to polish it as much as they can before showing too much. Whatever the reason, I'm still looking forward to 2026 and finally getting my hands on Squadron 42. Let's just hope it delivers on the potential!
