Get hyped, folks! Slay the Spire 2 is finally hitting early access on March 5th, 2026. I know, it's a bit of a wait, but from what I'm hearing, it's gonna be worth it. Mega Crit, the masterminds behind the original, are promising a whole heap of fresh content. Think new cards, characters, events, enemies, environments – the works!

But the real kicker? It looks like they're adding four-player online co-op right from the get-go! While the Steam page lists it as single-player, the devs themselves have hinted at teaming up with your buddies to conquer the Spire.

If you were hoping the core gameplay would change, don't worry: Judging by the trailer, Slay the Spire 2 feels very much like its predecessor, which in my book, is a fantastic thing. I think it's great that they kept the core the same.

More Goodies Than You Can Shake a Stick At

According to the latest sneak peeks, you can expect a treasure trove of fresh stuff. We're talking about new relics, potions, abilities, and even alternate acts! If you're like me, and enjoy replaying to see what happens, then you will enjoy the alternate acts. Mega Crit wants to keep things fresh. These alternate acts are supposed to introduce radically different environments, enemies, events, and bosses. So, even if you think you know the Spire like the back of your hand, there'll be plenty of surprises waiting for you.

While Mega Crit initially aimed for an autumn 2025 launch, they decided to push things back to ensure the game meets their standards. And honestly, I'm all for it. I'd rather wait a little longer and get a polished gem than rush into a buggy mess.

From what I've seen, the visual presentation has gotten a major upgrade, sporting 3D models in 2D environments. I feel like this is a smart move.
