Skyrim Mod Lordbound Becomes Semi-Official Thanks to New Bethesda Expansion
So, remember that massive Skyrim mod, Lordbound, that took like, forever to come out? Well, guess what? Two of the people who made it are now working on official Bethesda stuff, and it kinda makes Lordbound a little bit official too! Wild, right?
Arcky, who used to lead the Lordbound project, mentioned on their Discord that he and RoKMod, known for Brainrot Cave, left their regular game dev jobs to start their own indie studio. I mean, that's a bold move! But making games is expensive, so they decided to create another huge Skyrim mod to help fund their dreams. Smart move, I think!
This new mod is called Legacy of Orsinium, and it's like a full-on DLC expansion. It's available through Bethesda's Creations thing, and it works perfectly with Lordbound. Arcky even said it might have some familiar storylines and more Lordbound lore in it. And since Bethesda approved it, it technically makes Lordbound semi-canon. It seems like he was joking, but still, it's pretty awesome.
But how does this affect Lordbound?
You might be wondering if this new project is slowing down the development of Lordbound. Well, Arcky said not to worry. While the teams are different, the tools he made for Legacy of Orsinium are already helping with Lordbound's development. So, it's a win-win situation, I guess!
I know some people aren't thrilled with Bethesda's Creations program, but I think it's cool to see these long-time modders getting a chance to go indie. Like the folks who made Sim Settlements for Fallout 4, they're using their Creations income to support their regular modding work. Arcky even said he's finally been able to pay some of the Lordbound developers he's worked with for over a decade. That's great to hear!
If you wanna check out Legacy of Orsinium, it adds a bunch of new quests to Skyrim's Orc strongholds. You'll need 1000 Creation Credits, which is about $10. Is it worth it? That's up to you to decide! But if you're a Skyrim fan, especially an Orc/Orsinium fan, and you're looking for new adventures, it sounds like it could be a cool addition to your game.
For me, it's always inspiring to see passion projects evolve like this. From a massive mod made by dedicated fans to a semi-canon addition to the Skyrim universe, it just goes to show what you can achieve with enough dedication and a little bit of help from the big guys.
