SiN: Reloaded Remastered FPS Coming to Consoles & PC in 2026
Get ready for a blast from the past! SiN: Reloaded, the remastered version of the 1998 first-person shooter that we initially heard about back in 2020, is officially hitting PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store in 2026.
3D Realms and Nightdive Studios, along with developers Nightdive Studios, Slipgate Ironworks, and Ritual Entertainment, are teaming up to bring this revamped classic to a whole new generation of gamers.
What's SiN: Reloaded About?
If you're not familiar with the original SiN, it's a story-driven FPS that throws you into a near-future dystopian world. You play as Colonel John R. Blade, a security consultant tasked with taking down the seductively evil Doctor Elexis Sinclaire. Elexis, the CEO of SinTEK Industries, is unleashing a DNA-altering drug onto the streets, and it's up to you to stop her and her army of genetically-engineered mutants.
I've always been a sucker for cyberpunk settings, so this sounds right up my alley.
What set SiN apart back in the day was its interactivity. You could hack computer terminals using DOS-style code, use elevators and security cameras to your advantage, and even drive around in a forklift, patrol boat, or helicopter! Your actions had consequences, leading to branching paths throughout the game.
For example, I remember playing a similar game where choosing to save a civilian early on drastically changed the ending. It's cool to see that SiN was doing this stuff way back then.
Also, SiN was among the first games to let you knock weapons out of enemies' hands and deal area-specific damage. These features may seem common now, but SiN was a pioneer.
What to Expect in the Remaster
SiN: Reloaded isn't just a simple graphical update. It includes the Wages of SiN extra mission pack, where you'll face off against a diabolical mafia boss and his mutant army. Both games have been optimized using the KEX Engine for modern systems.
The graphics have been remastered with new textures, and the game supports up to 4K resolution at 144 frames per second. The controls and user interface have also been modernized. You can even switch between the remastered visuals and the original SiN Gold version if you're feeling nostalgic.
I'm personally stoked about the improved maps and the new achievements. Higher resolution tracks mixed by Chris Mock are also a great addition.
While 2026 feels like a long way off, I'm excited to see what Nightdive Studios and the other developers have in store for SiN: Reloaded.
