A new game has just been announced, and it looks pretty interesting! Invercity Game Works, a studio based in China, is bringing us Project Retrograde: The Becoming. It's being described as a narrative-driven action survival game, which is a combo I can definitely get behind.

What's the setting? Well, picture this: it's 1995, and humanity's last hope, called Project Retrograde, has just crumbled. A nasty ancient parasite called L.U.C.A. has shattered the underground world. You play as a bounty hunter who's bonded with a parasite.

You'll need to use the parasite's dangerous abilities to try and save the world. However, there's a catch: it might just consume you in the process! Sounds like a fun, if slightly stressful, time, right?

Parasitic Combat and a Mysterious Underground World

Because you're infected with L.U.C.A, you can actually absorb combat memories from other hosts to survive. This means you can unlock parasitic skills and become, for example, a Kung Fu master or even Baba Yaga. The combat promises to be adrenaline-fueled, so get ready for some intense action.

You'll be exploring a post-apocalyptic world filled with retro technology. You can manipulate the LUX system to change the underground weather or climb towers to reach new areas. The goal is to uncover the truth that's been buried for years.

I'm curious to see how the parasite mechanic plays out, and how it affects the story. The game's website has a trailer, so check it out.

Project Retrograde: The Becoming is slated to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. As of right now, we don't have a specific release date, so we'll have to be patient.
