Panzer Dragoon II Zwei remake is coming to PS5, Xbox, Switch and PC
Hey everyone! Great news for all you retro game fans out there! Panzer Dragoon II Zwei is getting a remake and it's heading to pretty much every platform you can think of. We're talking PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC (via Steam and GOG). Awesome, right?
Forever Entertainment, along with the developers MegaPixel Studio and Storm Trident, announced that this classic rail shooter is getting a fresh coat of paint. While we don't have an exact release date yet, it's great to know it's on the horizon. And, if you happen to be at the Tokyo Game Show 2025 (September 25-28), you can actually play it at the Rainy Frog booth. Talk about a sneak peek!
For those who aren't familiar with the game, Panzer Dragoon II Zwei is a prequel to the original Panzer Dragoon. You play as Jean Jacque Lundi, a young guy who teams up with a dragon named Lagi. Together, you go on this crazy adventure, battling enemies, uncovering secrets, and exploring ancient civilizations.
What to Expect
I think it's really cool that the gameplay is staying true to the original on-rail shooter style. Expect fast-paced action, intense battles, and epic boss fights. Plus, there's a "Berserk Attack" that can help you turn the tide when things get tough.
One of the interesting things is how Lagi, your dragon, evolves based on how you play. So, your choices and combat performance actually affect your dragon's growth. That's a neat little twist, if you ask me. Also, the game has branching routes, which means you can replay levels and discover different paths. Adds a lot of replayability.
For the music lovers out there, you'll be happy to know that the game includes both the original soundtrack and a remastered version arranged by Saori Kobayashi. And of course, the visuals have been enhanced, staying faithful to the original style but with a modern touch. You can even choose between classic and modern control schemes, so you can play however you like.
Overall, I'm really excited about this remake. Panzer Dragoon II Zwei was a gem back in the day, and I can't wait to see how it's been updated for modern consoles and PC. I'll be keeping an eye out for that release date!
