It's wild to think that Old School RuneScape, a game I poured countless hours into back in the day, is still going strong. While there's a newer, fancier version out there, the fact that Old School RuneScape is not only alive but thriving is awesome. It also makes me feel super old because it's been around for ages!

But enough about existential dread! Let's talk about the exciting news: Sailing is coming to Old School RuneScape! Yes, you read that right; a brand-new skill is hitting the game for the first time since its launch.

This isn't just a small update; it's described as massive, touching almost every part of the game. You'll be able to own up to five boats, ranging from small rafts to larger vessels, and, of course, you can upgrade them to make them even better.

Ship combat will be a thing. I think it will be similar to combat on land. Also, you will be able to bring some NPCs with you, or real friends to explore the seas. Leveling up the skill is pretty straight forward, you need to sail. This involves interacting with your boat, like adjusting your sails, which grants you XP and a speed boost.

There's more, you can salvage shipwrecks, chart the oceans, do some deep-sea trawling, complete new quests, and gather new resources. Also, there are new areas to explore, including 30 new islands. Some of these islands have new dungeons to explore.

So, when can you set sail? The update is planned to launch on November 19th.
