Morrowind meets Elden Ring: Modder showcases quests and crime
Imagine Morrowind, but with the combat and feel of Elden Ring. Sounds wild, right? Well, a dedicated modder is actually making that happen, and they've just dropped a juicy update showing off their progress.
It all started about a month ago when AnotherPlus revealed they were transferring Morrowind's landscape into Elden Ring. Now, they're showing off early quests that you can actually complete. It means you can get off that iconic boat and start your journey to face Dagoth Ur.
Morrowind Quests and Crime System
So, how far can you get in the game right now? According to the modder, "fairly far," though not everything is fully implemented yet. The script compiler isn't completely finished, but many common commands are working, which allows you to complete a lot of quests. However, sometimes you might hit a snag when a quest requires a specific command that isn't implemented yet.
The crime system is also starting to take shape. You can sneak around and steal items, but it's designed so you don't accidentally commit crimes when trying to chat with people. If you get caught, guards will confront you, but they don't have a jail to send you to yet, and chasing is limited.
The Biggest Hurdle
However, there's a significant challenge: navmeshes. According to AnotherPlus, this is the one thing that could potentially stop the mod from being fully functional. They haven't made much progress on it, and they're not even sure what the solution will look like. It's a big roadblock, but they're still hopeful they can figure it out.
Looking ahead, the modders need more volunteers, especially experienced Morrowind modders who can help with a compatibility patch to handle the differences in how the two games handle integer values.
There's no release date yet, but AnotherPlus is planning to release another update video soon. If you are like me, and love both games, then you should be hyped with this project!
