So, it looks like Sonic Team might be making character spotlights a regular thing! After the whole "Year of Shadow" thing, which was pretty cool to get us hyped for the new movie and Sonic x Shadow Generations, Takashi Iizuka seems keen on keeping the party going.

Iizuka mentioned at the Brasil Game Show that he wants to pick a character each year, especially those who'll be showing up in the upcoming films. I guess it's a smart move, building anticipation and all that. Think of it as a year-long hype train!

Future Character Focus?

Since a fourth Sonic the Hedgehog movie is already in the works (hitting theaters March 19th, 2027!), and the post-credits scene of the third film teased Amy Rose and Metal Sonic, could we be looking at a "Year of Amy" or a "Year of Metal Sonic"? I wouldn't be surprised! It makes sense to amp up the excitement before the film drops.

I mean, think about it. This year, Sega's doing a "Racing Around The World" campaign for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, even partnering with McLaren Racing. If they're already doing stuff like that, dedicating a whole year to a specific character seems like the next logical step. The possibilities are endless! Year of Big the Cat, anyone? Okay, maybe that's pushing it, but who knows!
