Metro Gravity

Metro Gravity Takes Gravity-Defying to New Heights with Rhythm-Based Combat and Metroidvania Exploration!

Action Metroidvania

Remember Gravity Rush 2? Eight years have passed since its release, and the craving for its unique blend of whimsy and gravity-bending gameplay has never faded. Thankfully, a new contender has entered the arena: Metro Gravity! It's not just a simple clone, though; it brings its own innovative mechanics to the table.

Unlike Gravity Rush, where you could manipulate gravity at will, Metro Gravity lets you stick to almost any surface, locking onto the gravity of your current location. While you do gain abilities to shift gravity in specific directions, the power of unrestricted flight, is not available here (at least not in the initial parts of the game). It's a more grounded, strategic approach to navigating the environment.

But there's more! Combat in Metro Gravity is rhythm-based! Enemies attack to the beat of the music, which changes depending on the area you're in. It's really cool that it also adds another layer of challenge. A little bit into the game, you'll unlock a Sekiro-style parry, which transforms combat into a dance of dodges, blocks, and perfectly timed attacks. It's incredibly satisfying when you get the hang of it!

And finally, the biggest twist: it's a Metroidvania! While most Metroidvanias are 2D, Metro Gravity dares to venture into the third dimension. You might think that navigating walls and ceilings could become confusing, but that wasn't my experience. It took a little bit of time to get used to moving around the map, but once you find an area's map - each with its own unique style, music, and combat rhythm - finding your way becomes much easier. I'm really excited to see what's hidden in the rest of the world!

I'm really enjoying Metro Gravity. I'm always wishing there were more 3D Metroidvanias, and I can't wait to get back into this one! The game launched on Steam, so go give it a try!
