Marvel Rivals Colors

Marvel Rivals: Paying Real Money for Colors? Seriously?

Gaming

Okay, so colors exist, right? They're, like, everywhere. And as of recently, Marvel Rivals decided to let you customize them. Basically, NetEase, the developer, added the option to choose different color palettes for your costumes. It's a small way to add a bit of your own flair to these already well-known characters.

Here's the catch: You gotta cough up some real-world cash to do it.

Alright, the *specific* catch is you need 600 of a new currency called Unstable Molecules. But hold on, you can't just buy Unstable Molecules directly. Nope, you first have to convert your Lattice into them at a 1:1 rate. And how do you get Lattice? Ah, that's where your wallet comes in. You can buy Lattice packs (100 and 500) for around $6.

Given that costumes themselves already cost around $20 (the game's main source of income, since characters are free), I kinda get the logic behind charging for color swaps. But still, it's hard not to raise an eyebrow when a developer wants you to spend money *on colors*. And using a separate currency to hide the actual cost? That's a classic free-to-play move, but it's one that can be frustrating.

More Colors to Come?

Right now, the color options are limited to characters like Magik and Luna Snow. I'm guessing more will be added down the line. The question is, will NetEase stick to their guns on this pricing model, or will they cave to the inevitable complaints on Twitter (or X, whatever)?

On a brighter note, Season 2 just launched last week, and NetEase is promising new heroes *every month*. Sounds like a lot of work for a team that isn't as big as it used to be!
