Marathon's Release Date is Set: Bungie's Shooter Locked for March
Alright, so Bungie's Marathon is finally getting a release date, and after all the drama – you know, the plagiarism accusations and those endless delays – it looks like we're locked in for a March launch. I was starting to think this game would never see the light of day!
Mark your calendars for March 5th, 2026. The date got leaked a little early, but now we have a shiny new trailer to feast our eyes on. The trailer throws us straight into the action, with a narrator setting the stage about Tau Ceti being in deep trouble. Apparently, the only way to save it is by running around and getting shot a lot, which sounds like a typical Tuesday for us gamers, right? I'm still on the fence about Marathon, I need to get my hands on it before I make any real judgments.
I've always been a fan of the game's bold use of lime green. It's like they're trying to win a sponsorship from a soft drinks brand. But then, they throw in some red at the end of the trailer, showing off a towering robotic figure. This mysterious baddie has a glowing green circle in their chest, so at least the lime green spirit lives on.
If you're already sold, you can pre-order the collector's edition, which comes with a... vacuum-packed caterpillar thing? I'm not sure about that one. The standard edition will set you back $39.99, while the deluxe version with extra in-game goodies costs $59.99. All the details are on Bungie's website, where they also mentioned an open preview weekend is coming soon, so that's great! I'm excited to get some first impressions when it releases.
The voice cast is packed with talent. We've got Elias Toufexis (Deus Ex), Roger Clark (Arthur Morgan), and a bunch of actors from Baldur's Gate 3. Ben Starr from Final Fantasy 16 is also on board. It's great to see such a strong cast lending their voices to this game. It's reassuring to see some known names in the cast, but it remains to be seen if this cast can save the game. I am really looking forward to it.
