Kyouran Makaism: Nippon Ichi Software Announces New Action RPG for PS5, Switch 2 and Switch
Hey everyone! I've got some exciting news for you. Nippon Ichi Software just dropped the curtain on their previously teased project, now officially titled Kyouran Makaism. It's an action RPG, and if you're like me and love over-the-top combat and crazy character progression, this might be right up our alley.
The game is slated to launch in Japan on January 29, 2026, and it's hitting PlayStation 5, Switch 2 (yes, you read that right!), and the regular Switch.
What's the deal with Kyouran Makaism?
From what I've gathered, Kyouran Makaism is all about that satisfying feeling of demolishing enemies with insane power. We're talking simple controls for flashy techniques, the ability to level up characters to a staggering 9,999, and even "reincarnate" them to become even stronger. The goal? To achieve stats so high you can deal over a billion damage! If that isn't enough to get your blood pumping, I don't know what is.
The story is set in the Netherworld, a place teeming with demons battling for dominance. Our protagonist, Neuer, is a mercenary hired by the overlord Tisiel to reclaim a pudding stolen from the refrigerator. Yes, you read that right. It's not just any pudding, but the "First Radiance Pudding," a treasure of sorts. It's a quirky setup, but I'm curious to see where it goes.
Characters
Neuer: A mercenary skilled in all weapons and magic, but with no real goals. He's basically a hired gun, fighting just to survive.
Tisiel: A young and sheltered overlord who loves pudding and inherited her position after her father's death. She's the one who calls on Neuer for help.
Gameplay Mechanics
Kyouran Makaism seems to be focusing on making you feel incredibly powerful. You'll be able to use seven different weapon types – swords, bows, spears, and more – each with its own unique attacks. Also, you can capture monsters and use them as "Familiars" in battle, which can even transform into weapons.
I find the level of customization very interesting. You can level up characters to insane levels, "reincarnate" them for stat bonuses, equip "Evilities" for extra perks, and even dive into "Chara Worlds" to make them stronger.
For those who are interested, there will be a Limited Edition version that includes a special box, soundtrack CD, and art book.
Overall, Kyouran Makaism looks like a wild ride. If you're into action RPGs with over-the-top combat, deep customization, and a quirky story, keep an eye on this one!
