Hytale Fans Paint #SaveHytale Art Over Riot Games' Office on WPlace, Protesting its Cancellation
Okay, so, I heard about this pretty wild thing that happened. Hytale, that sandbox game we were all hyped about a few years ago before its cancellation, still has some seriously dedicated fans. And they're not going down without a fight!
You see, this game had a lot of promise. Announced way back in 2015, Hytale generated a ton of buzz. But after Riot Games swooped in, first with investment and then a full-on acquisition of Hypixel, the developers, things kinda went south. They ended up pulling the plug, which, let's be honest, was a total bummer for everyone who was looking forward to it.
The reason? Apparently, Hypixel tried to get more funding from other places, but no luck. With development hitting some major roadblocks, and Riot Games' money drying up, it was left unfinished. I think that waiting almost ten years for it probably didn't help either. No wonder they pulled the plug!
However, the Hytale community isn't ready to let it go just yet! They've taken their protest to WPlace, a website where people can paint pixels on a shared online map – basically, a giant collaborative digital canvas. Think Google Maps meets MS Paint, with a 30-second cooldown between each pixel placement.
And what did they create? A massive "#SaveHytale" art piece right over Riot Games' office in Santa Monica. This online art piece is a testament to how much fans want this game to somehow come back to life. Seriously, imagine the dedication! They are clinging to the hope that maybe the original founder of Hypixel can get the IP back, or some other miracle happens.
