Fantasy Life i Gets Unexpected Roguelike Mode With Free DLC
Hold on to your hats, folks! Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, that charming life-sim RPG from Level 5, is about to get a whole lot more interesting. While we knew free DLC was on the way, what we DIDN'T expect was a full-blown open-world roguelike mode! I mean, who saw that coming?
Now, I know what you're thinking: "A laid-back life sim meets punishing roguelike gameplay? How does that even work?" Well, Level 5 isn't giving away all the secrets just yet. However, they did mention in their announcement that this update, currently in the works, will feature an "evolved version of Ginormosia, blending roguelike and open-world elements".
Unfortunately, the specifics are still a bit vague, but Level 5 assures us that this update will have "engaging content for both experienced players and newcomers alike." Plus, we can look forward to "powerful new gear" and "stylish equipment, mounts, and a variety of unusual items." My mind is already racing with possibilities! I am personally hoping for a weapon that shoots healing potions!
But wait, there's more! The free DLC update isn't just about roguelike adventures. We're also getting a brand-new character who will "leave a significant mark on the world." Along with that, prepare for new hairstyles and emotes to further personalize your in-game avatar. As for when this update will drop? Level 5 promises it's coming "as soon as possible."
So, why all this love in the form of free content? Well, apparently, Fantasy Life i is doing pretty darn well! It's already sold over 1 million copies since its release in May! To celebrate, Level 5 is giving away a "commemorative gift code" that unlocks an "exclusive piece of equipment" and a "commemorative Pegasus mount." They even apologized for accidentally giving some players a unicorn instead (which, let's be honest, isn't the worst mistake in the world).
If you haven't already jumped into the world of Fantasy Life i, now might be the perfect time. It's available on Steam, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Switch, and even the rumored Switch 2! With a roguelike mode on the horizon, the adventure is just getting started.
