Epic Games Sues Fortnite Cheater
Epic Games is continuing its aggressive fight against cheaters in Fortnite. A new lawsuit has been filed against an individual, identified as Ediz Atas (also known as Sincey Cheats and Vanta Cheats), for allegedly developing and selling cheat software. This software, according to the lawsuit, provided features such as wallhacks and aimbots, giving users an unfair advantage.
Beyond the Cheats
The lawsuit, filed in North Carolina, doesn't just target Atas. It also names five unnamed individuals accused of distributing the cheats through platforms like Discord and Telegram. The complaint goes further, alleging that Atas attempted to deceive YouTube by impersonating an Epic Games employee to prevent the removal of videos showcasing the cheat software. This action highlights the lengths some will go to for an unfair advantage.
This isn't Epic Games' first rodeo. They've previously pursued legal action against other cheat developers and users, winning significant settlements and contributing the proceeds to charity. This ongoing legal battle demonstrates Epic's commitment to maintaining fair play within Fortnite. The company has issued tens of thousands of bans against accounts using Atas's cheats, indicating the widespread problem this represents.
The pursuit of compensation in this lawsuit extends beyond Atas, seeking damages from those who helped distribute the cheat software. The exact amount of damages sought remains undisclosed, yet the lawsuit serves as a clear message: cheating in Fortnite will not be tolerated.
