Dragon Quest Smash/Grow: Mobile RPG Set for 2026 Release, Closed Beta This October!
Hey everyone! I've got some exciting news for all you Dragon Quest fans out there. Square Enix just revealed that Dragon Quest Smash/Grow, a brand-new mobile game, is slated to launch globally on both iOS and Android in 2026. I know, it feels like a long wait, but trust me, it sounds like it'll be worth it!
But here's the kicker: if you're impatient like me, you might be able to get your hands on it sooner! A closed beta test is scheduled to run from October 14th to 21st. Pre-registration is already open on the official website, so what are you waiting for? Go sign up!
What's the Game About?
So, what exactly is Dragon Quest Smash/Grow? Well, it's described as a "roguelite RPG." For those of you not familiar with the term, a roguelite basically means you'll be diving into dungeons, battling hordes of monsters, and collecting loot to power up your character. The cool thing is, each run is unique. I'm talking about randomly generated levels, enemies, and items, keeping things fresh and challenging.
The game emphasizes intuitive and exhilarating gameplay. You'll be smashing through enemies (hence the "Smash" in the title, I guess) to gain strength, and then unleashing those classic Dragon Quest "Coup de Grace" attacks. I can already imagine the satisfaction of obliterating a tough boss with a perfectly timed special move!
And if that wasn't enough, the game also features random "Blessings" that act like skills that'll enhance your character. You can think of it as adding even more depth to your battle strategy. No quest will be the same, and that's precisely what has me hooked. If you love the tactical combat and progression systems of titles such as "Final Fantasy Tactics", this will be up your alley.
Closed Beta Details and Giveaway
As I mentioned before, the closed beta is running from October 14th to 21st. If you want to participate, you'll need to pre-register on iOS via TestFlight or Android via Google Play before October 2nd. Don't miss out!
Besides the beta test, there's also a giveaway campaign running on the game's official Twitter and Facebook pages. By following the Twitter account and reposting the giveaway post, or liking the Facebook page and leaving a comment, you'll have a chance to win some awesome Dragon Quest merchandise! I'm talking a Metallic Monsters Gallery figure, a Pixelight Slime, and even a Smile Slime Plush. Sweet!
To finish things off, there is a teaser trailer available if you want to have a peek at the game!
