Doom: The Dark Ages DLC Feels Like a Sequel, It's Massive!
So, Doom: The Dark Ages is getting some DLC, and apparently, it's HUGE. Like, "basically a sequel" huge, according to game director Hugo Martin during a Slayers Club livestream. If you've been waiting patiently (or not so patiently) since the main game dropped, it sounds like you're about to be rewarded big time.
Martin understands it's been a minute since the main game hit the shelves, but he promises the wait will be worth it. He was pretty hyped about it, saying the DLC is "ginormous" and feels like a full-blown sequel. That's quite a claim!
He didn't spill all the beans about what exactly this massive update will include. However, he did mention that the DLC is "nothing like" the main game. I'm really curious about how different it will be. Maybe we'll see some fresh gameplay mechanics, new enemy types, or even a completely different setting. He even teased a spear-like weapon. Spears in Doom? Sounds brutal!
While playing the main game during the stream, Martin said, "The DLC is nothing like this... I can't say too much, I'm just going to say that what I've been playing… I haven't been playing like this." This is making me even more hyped!
Doom: The Dark Ages has already been a massive success. It was the "biggest launch" in id Software's history. Three million players have already dove headfirst into the game's hellish landscapes since it launched. In comparison, Bethesda mentioned that Doom: The Dark Ages hit this milestone seven times faster than Doom Eternal. That's pretty impressive!
I think that with so many games trying to be everything to everyone, it's cool to see Doom just be Doom. Pure, unadulterated demon-slaying fun. If the DLC really is as big and different as Martin says, we're in for a treat.
