Man, it's been a weird year for Monster Hunter Wilds. After Monster Hunter World's huge success, everyone thought Wilds would crush it. But it seems like it's been struggling a bit after launch. Capcom's pointing fingers at stuff like the PS5's price, but honestly, the game's sales aren't as hot as Street Fighter 6 or Monster Hunter Rise's DLC.

Now, Yuya Tokuda, the director of Monster Hunter Wilds, is asking players to give the game another shot. He's promising they've tweaked a bunch of stuff to fix the issues it had when it first came out. I think that is awesome!

What's new?

Tokuda mentioned that they looked at where new players were getting stuck, even going back to Monster Hunter: World. They've been working to make it easier for newbies to get past tough spots, like reaching certain monsters or crafting specific armor. That's a cool approach, in my opinion.

They've also added new features that help both beginners and experienced players, like Focus Mode. But here's the thing: some players found the game too easy, especially if they're used to the usual Monster Hunter challenge. That led to a bunch of negative reviews on Steam, which probably didn't help keep players hooked. It must have been a surprise for Capcom, since MonHun fans are usually pretty loyal.

However, it's not all bad news. Capcom has released free updates that add more challenging gameplay. There was even a Final Fantasy 14 crossover with a crazy-hard fight against Omega Planetes that even veteran players struggled with. Sounds like a blast!

So, Tokuda is saying, "If you beat the game when it came out and haven't played since, please give it another try!"

If you need more reason to jump back in, Capcom just announced another Monster Hunter Showcase on December 8th. They'll be showing off Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 4 and giving us another look at Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. I can't wait!

The showcase will be on YouTube and Twitch. From what I've heard, Monster Hunter Wilds TU4 will bring back Gogmazios, an oil-covered Elder Dragon from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. There will also be more endgame content, new weapon buffs, a seasonal event, and performance improvements. All of this is coming on December 16th, just in time for the holidays.
