Battlefield 6 Beta Dominates Steam, Outshining Even Call of Duty
Okay, so the Battlefield 6 beta just wrapped up its first open weekend, and let me tell you, the numbers are kinda insane! It feels like everyone was trying to get a piece of the action.
It all started with the invite-only beta, which already set records for the series on Steam. But things really took off when the beta opened up to everyone. I mean, who doesn't love a free taste, right?
The player count on Steam just skyrocketed. It was constantly among the top three most-played games. The peak? A whopping 521,079 players all battling it out at the same time. That's a HUGE number, folks!
What's even crazier is that the Battlefield 6 beta actually had more concurrent players than any Call of Duty game has ever had on Steam. I'm talking about Warzone, Modern Warfare 2, all of 'em! CoD's highest peak was around 491,670 players. Imagine that!
However, before we get carried away, keep in mind that Steam isn't the only place people play Battlefield. There are tons of players on EA's own app and the Epic Games Store, not to mention PlayStation and Xbox. So, the overall numbers for Battlefield 6 are probably even higher than what we're seeing on Steam.
Even if the full game doesn't hit the same peak numbers when it launches, there's a good chance that the rumored free-to-play mode could push it over the edge. I think that if this happens, it will be the game of the year! What do you think?
