It feels like ages ago when Ark 2 was first revealed, wasn't it? That crazy CGI trailer with Vin Diesel almost feels like a fever dream. However, Studio Wildcard is still on track with it, and to get us ready, they're launching a fresh Ark: Survival Ascended expansion called Ark: Lost Colony on December 16th.

Lost Colony is like a bridge connecting Ark's Extinction and Genesis expansions, while also setting the stage for Ark 2. But, there's more! It even ties into the Ark animated TV series. Imagine hearing voices like Michelle Yeo, David Tenant, and Katie Sackhoff in "cinematic anime sequences" by studio MAPPA. That's happening on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC this December!

ARK: Lost Colony 'Ossidon' Spotlight

Lost Colony is the "first canonical expansion" for Survival Ascended. You'll be dropped into the icy lands of Arat Prime, where the ARKs were born. Follow Mei Yin's path through a wild journey. Expect new character skills, "cursed" gear, new building options, and creatures to tame, like the Ossidon, a powerful winter predator.

If you can't wait until December, you can check out the Ossidon now by grabbing the Lost Colony Expansion Pass. It's available as "preview gameplay content" on Ragnarok, Valguero, and The Center.

Originally planned for June, Lost Colony is arriving a bit later. And Ark 2? Well, it was announced way back in 2020, but wasn't mentioned in the content roadmap for this year. Some think it might not show up until after December 2026. Delays are nothing new for Studio Wildcard, though. Even the second part of the Ark animated series got pushed back to next year.
